This repository used to hold the Sourcegraph extension for Visual Studio Code, a popular code editor. The extension itself is a tool that helps programmers search and explore large codebases more easily, bringing Sourcegraph's code intelligence features directly into the editor. However, this specific repository is no longer the place where that tool is maintained. The project has simply moved. The code for the VS Code extension has been folded into the main Sourcegraph repository, which serves as the central hub for all of the company's software. Instead of keeping the editor extension in a separate, standalone project, the developers decided it made more sense to manage it alongside the rest of their core software under a specific folder in that main repository. Because this is an archived and deprecated project, nobody should be using it anymore. If a developer or project manager wants to look at the code, report bugs, or contribute to the extension, they need to visit the main Sourcegraph repository instead. Any ongoing development, updates, or community discussions are happening there now, and this old repository is simply left in place as a historical reference. There is nothing notable about how this project is built or any technical tradeoffs to discuss here, because the repository no longer contains an active, independent codebase. Anyone attempting to use this old version would be working with outdated, unmaintained code that has been superseded by the current version living in the main repository.
