So what is it?

orgframework is a reference library built for Claude Code, the AI coding assistant. It helps Claude design organizational structures for companies, hospitals, and other organizations by giving it a large set of real world examples to draw from instead of guessing. At its core is a collection of 537 hand written role descriptions covering fields like engineering, marketing, sales, HR, finance, legal, healthcare, education, and even trades like plumbing or aviation. Each role file includes responsibilities, required skills, common tools, how performance is measured, a typical career path, and how the role changes depending on region or industry. On top of that, the project includes 31 complete org presets for common situations such as a Series A software startup or a hospital system, six crisis response templates for events like a data breach or a sudden executive departure, salary data for over 50 roles across four regions, and background profiles describing regional laws, industry norms, and company stage. You install orgframework into an existing Claude Code project using a provided install script, which copies the reference files into a folder inside your project along with a skill definition. Once installed, you type a command describing your situation, such as needing an org structure for a fintech company expanding into a new country, and Claude uses the reference material to propose departments, roles, and reporting lines suited to that context. Shortcodes let you specify region, industry, and company stage explicitly. The tool also includes commands to check that everything installed correctly and to see what context it detected from your request. The project describes itself as reference material only. Claude is never limited to strictly following these files, they exist to ground its suggestions in realistic patterns rather than generic assumptions. The full README is longer than what was shown.
