What is skills?

HeyGen Skills is a collection of add-on tools (called "skills") for AI coding agents that lets those agents create avatar videos using HeyGen's video platform. The problem it solves is simple: previously you had to log into HeyGen's website yourself to make an AI avatar video, now your AI agent can do it entirely on your behalf by following instructions you give in plain English. There are three skills bundled together. The first creates a digital avatar from a photo you provide, giving it a voice and a persistent identity stored in a local file. The second takes a written idea or prompt and turns it into a scripted video featuring that avatar. The third takes any existing video and translates and dubs it into over 175 languages with synchronized lip movements. You would reach for this when you want an AI coding agent to produce a video as part of a workflow, for example, generating a personal intro video, a product launch clip, or a localized version of content, without manually interacting with the HeyGen website. Installation works by giving your agent a single instruction, which triggers it to set up the skills automatically. Authentication is handled either via an API key or through an OAuth login flow.
