Planet Express Lounge is a Chrome browser extension that turns your sidebar into an AI powered sitcom based on the animated show Futurama. Press a button and the crew from the show runs a full comedy episode on its own, complete with a setup, escalating jokes, a climax, and a punchline. You can also chat with individual characters directly, visit the Professor's lab, and unlock small rewards over time. The extension needs no server, subscription, or account. It runs on a bring your own API key model, meaning you connect your own account with an AI provider such as Groq, OpenRouter, or Gemini to power the character responses. Before you set that up, a built in Demo Mode lets you try a few scripted chat exchanges and a full pre written episode with text to speech voices, so you can see how it works before committing to any setup. Beyond the core chat and autopilot episode features, the extension includes several small collectible mini games in a Lab tab, like a translator toy, a random lore generator, and a beverage dispenser, all powered by an in app currency called Dark Matter that you earn through use. There is also an invention generator tied to the Professor character, a system for saving favorite chat moments and summaries to a personal archive called Cold Storage, and a daily reward system that pays out more of that in app currency the more you use the extension. Character voices can come from ElevenLabs if you have a paid plan, your operating system's built in voices, or Chrome's own built in voice engine, with individual volume and speed controls per character. Setup for developers involves cloning the repository, enabling Developer Mode in Chrome, and loading the extension folder unpacked, since it does not yet appear to be published to the Chrome Web Store.
