What is 1password-teams-open-source?

1Password for Open Source Projects gives free 1Password Teams memberships to qualifying open source projects. The idea is straightforward: open source teams often need a secure place to store and share sensitive things like social media logins, code signing certificates, SSH keys, and other credentials, but they may not have budget for a paid password manager. This program fills that gap. The application process works like this: you create a 1Password Teams account, invite at least one other person, then fork this repository and add your project to a list at the bottom of the page. You submit that change as a pull request with details about your project. The 1Password team reviews requests and decides whether to approve them. To qualify, your project must be at least 30 days old, actively maintained, use a standard open source license, and be non-commercial. That means no paid support and no paid contributors. If your project is tied to a business, you would not be eligible. If you are unsure whether you qualify, you can email their team to check before applying. Approved projects get a renewable one-year membership. Core contributors can be invited, and everyone gets access to the 1Password apps across all platforms. When the year is up, you just email them to renew as long as your project still meets the requirements. The repository itself is essentially an application form and a public directory.
