What is claude-inbox-zero?

Claude Inbox Zero is an email assistant that runs entirely inside Claude, using your existing Gmail connection instead of any separate server, database, or app you would need to register. It is inspired by a paid product called Inbox Zero and rebuilt as a Claude skill that stores all of its state as Gmail labels. Each time it runs, the assistant looks at untriaged threads in your inbox and sorts them into categories such as To Reply, Awaiting, Newsletter, Marketing, Receipts, Notifications, Cold Email, and FYI, applying labels under an InboxZero folder so your inbox stays organized and filterable. For threads that need a response, it drafts a reply written in your own voice, but it never sends anything automatically, you always review and send it yourself. A separate weekly routine studies your sent mail and compares its own past drafts against what you actually sent, using every edit you make as a signal to improve. It also watches for senders who email you constantly but whose messages you never open, and keeps track of them so it does not flag the same one twice. After each run it produces a short digest summarizing what needs your attention, what got filed automatically, and what you might want to unsubscribe from. To use it, you need Claude Code or the Claude desktop app with skills support, and the Gmail connector connected with at least label and modify access, though it can still run in a more limited report only mode without that. Setup involves copying the skill folder into your local Claude skills directory, connecting Gmail, and telling Claude to run inbox zero setup, which mines your sent mail to build a starting voice profile and walks you through your personal rules. You can optionally schedule daily triage and a weekly voice tuning run. The project is released under the MIT license and states it is not affiliated with the commercial Inbox Zero product it takes its name from.
