What is claude-fintech-skills?

This repository is a collection of Claude Code skills, which are Markdown files with a short YAML header that Claude can automatically pick up and use when the situation matches. The skills here are drawn from about a decade of real experience running financial technology infrastructure, trading platforms, and broker-side systems in production, so they capture specific lessons learned on the job rather than general advice. The collection is organized into topic folders covering trading (things like IMM date conventions, Bloomberg data feeds, and FIX protocol connections), infrastructure (Proxmox virtual machines, container troubleshooting, cluster setup), networking (WebSocket proxy configuration, VPN debugging, SSL certificates), security (decoding authentication tokens, Microsoft identity login patterns), monitoring (Prometheus and Grafana setup, security agent enrollment), telephony (fixing phone system bugs, provisioning office phones), a frontend folder on React coding habits, and a data folder covering message queues, database design, and caching. Each skill file focuses on a narrow, specific problem, describing pitfalls that typically only show up once a system is actually running in production, things a tutorial would not usually mention. The stated goal is to save time re-explaining the same hard-won lessons to a new AI assistant session every time. To use the skills, someone clones the repository and copies the specific Markdown files they want into their own Claude configuration folder, either globally or per project, or symlinks the whole folder in at once. Claude then reads the file's short header to judge whether a skill applies to the current conversation. The files can also just be read on their own as reference notes, without using Claude Code at all. The project is licensed under the MIT license, meaning anyone can use, modify, and share it freely, including for commercial purposes, as long as the license text stays attached. It was put together by Farid Said, described as a Head of IT at an institutional broker with over a decade of experience in trading infrastructure, networking, security, and financial technology tooling.
