What is awesome-spfx?

Awesome SPFx is a curated, hand-maintained list of resources for developers working with the SharePoint Framework, known as SPFx. SPFx is Microsoft's official development model for building custom web parts, extensions, and cards that run inside SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Viva Connections. It relies on modern web tooling such as TypeScript, npm, and Webpack, and is the recommended way to add custom functionality to SharePoint and Microsoft 365. Rather than being a piece of software you install or run, this repository is a reference document, a single organized page of links pointing to official Microsoft documentation, community tools, libraries, sample galleries, and learning material. The author built it because good SPFx information tends to be scattered across many different blogs, docs pages, and repositories, and wanted one place to collect it for both newcomers and experienced developers. The list is organized into clear sections covering official Microsoft documentation, notes on setting up a development environment, project generators for scaffolding new SPFx projects, community libraries from the PnP, or Patterns and Practices, ecosystem for working with SharePoint and Microsoft Graph APIs, galleries of real sample web parts, developer tools and VS Code extensions, migration tools, starter templates, testing and continuous integration setup, AI and Copilot integrations, and general learning resources including video tutorials and community links. Some entries also include practical, hard-won notes, such as a warning that Microsoft paused issuing free sandbox tenants after a 2024 security incident, and guidance on which SPFx version to use if you have no access to a Microsoft 365 tenant at all.
